Applied Materials Selects Ontario Technologies for Thermal Coating Parts Refurbishment

    SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 1999--

    Applied Materials Licenses Ontario Technologies To Provide
    Refurbishment Services to Chipmakers

    Applied Materials, Inc. has signed an agreement with Ontario Technologies Corp. (OTC), a subsidiary of Ontario Corporation, that authorizes OTC to provide refurbishment services for certain Applied Materials equipment parts directly to chipmakers. Under the program, OTC will use Applied Materials specifications to refurbish parts requiring thermal spray coatings, such as shields and other parts used in physical vapor deposition (PVD), plasma etch and metal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) systems.

"This arrangement gives customers a highly qualified source for refurbishing spray coated parts, which should help them extend the lifetime and reduce the long-term operating cost of our systems," noted Jorge Titinger, general manager of Applied Materials' Installed Base Support Services Group. "Ontario Corporation has supplied Applied Materials with state-of-the-art thermal coating expertise for years, and we are confident in their ability to provide customers with high quality refurbishment services that meet our exacting specifications."
